Barmy Army
OVER STOWEY entertained England's Barmy Army on the 3rd June 2007, and it proved to be a cracking day, for the spectators, the players and the organisers.
The Army came from all over the South of England with the furthest coming from Hertfordshire, which was much appreciated by the club.
On an overcast day, the Army batted first scoring 205 of their 40 overs, with the lost of 7 wickets. Stowey wicket-keeper Kai Baker deserves a special mention, making three stumpings, a catch behind and also involved in a run out.
Chasing, Stowey left it to the last possible moment to win the game, with the winning runs coming of the final ball of the day, in what can be said to be gloomy conditions! Neil Buller hitting the winning run through the covers.
Many thanks to the Army and to Nicky Bowes of the Army for helping organise such a special event.
