THE club held it's annual AGM recently, where a lot was discussed and decisions made, Notably, Chairman Ashley Easden, has decided to stay on for another year, on the proviso that a new Vice-Chairman is appointed to succeed him next year. Phil Rich accepted the roll of Vice-Chairman.

The Chairman reported that the year has been tough in some aspects on the pitch, however he was impressed with our youth sides, especially the Under 13's. Off the pitch, it is strong, with events going on around the year, raising monies for the club, and in particular, our weekend cricketing festival in July, where monies were raised for both the club and the clubs' charity, The Marion Evered Trust Another event will take place in 2009.

The Treasurer, Sue Thomas, appreciated the monies raised during the year, and this has helped ease the burden on getting equipment and kit to help the youth and the development and this will continue in youth throughout 2009.

The Development Manager, Steve Easden, reported that our ECB Accreditation will need to be reviewed and updated this year, as it is up for inspection by the Somerset Cricket Board. Also, due to the increasing number of children wishing to play and train, there will be a need for more coaches, parents will be approached to see if they would like to help out.

Press and Marketing Officer, Mark Sells, said that he a great response with sponsors and Vice-Presidents for 2008, however, he also reported that due to the Credit Crunch, he will delay contacting existing and potential new sponsors and VP's until the new year.

On the pitch, the 1st XI Captain, Mark Sortwell, acknowledged it was a difficult first season for him, only winning three games. He said that he trouble keeping a consistent side and questioned players commitment, and at times found it disheartening. However, he drew on positives, and thanked players who were ever present throughout the season.

The 2nd XI Captain, Paul Franklin, reported that they had a bet season in 2008 than the previous year, and he again thanked his core of players. He also announced that he was stepping down due to work commitments.

Youth Co-ordinator, Phil Rich, reported that it was another great season for the youth, with the Under 13's coming runners up in their respective division, and beating some large town clubs, like Bridgwater, Taunton etc. He also congratulated the Under 11's for winning the Paul Wickham award, for friendly match day hospitality.

A tour for 2009 is to be organised, and likely destinations are Bournemouth, Newquay or possibly Brittany. Tour Manager, Ashley Easden, will confirm dates, costs and location as soon as he hears back from Shire Sports.

Village Hall Rep, Anthony Thomas, reported that plans needed to be drawn up for any work we wish to carry out on the pavilion, so he can put our proposal to the Village Hall committee, so we can then improve on what we got.

Election of Officers All positions of Officers and Non-executive officers have stayed the same, but Phil Rich has taken over the position of Vice Chairman from Mark Sells, and a 2nd XI captain has yet to be decided.
